Treasure Hunt Clues lead to Pirate Keys. Use the Pirate Keys to fill in the blanks of the Pirate Code. The Pirate Code reveals the identity and location of the Lost Treasure of Blackwater Bones.
The object of the Treasure Hunt is to first, solve each daily clue and locate the Pirate Key. The Pirate Key is a specific word indicated by a clue. Clues will be posted in the window of the Santa Rosa Chamber of Commerce, and will also be available on the Santa Rosa Historical Society website, the Santa Rosa County Chamber of Commerce website, Press Gazette website and repeated on local radio stations. The clues will be historically based and will relate to Milton and the surrounding area. You may need to research the clues in order to understand their meaning. After a clue is announced, use the information in the clue to determine the location of the Pirate Key for that specific clue. The Pirate Key is a specific written word at the location indicated by the clue. The number of spaces and letters provided by your treasure map will aid you in filling in the Pirate Key blanks with the appropriate word.
Use the corresponding numbers below the Pirate Keys to fill in the blanks of the Pirate Code. The Pirate Code is a sentence(s), phrase, or group of words that will reveal the identity and location of the treasure. The treasure is a physical object identified in the Pirate Code on your treasure map. It is highly recommended that you solve the Pirate Keys and the Pirate Code before searching for the treasure. The identity of the treasure and the location of the treasure is only made clear in the Pirate Code. The treasure will be hidden anywhere within downtown Milton or the surrounding area and no clear boundary will be designated. Therefore, the chances of finding the treasure without first locating the Pirate Keys and solving the Pirate Code will be next to impossible. The treasure will be hidden on public property.
For the purpose of the hunt, a series of letters or numbers will be written, printed, stamped, or engraved somewhere on the treasure object. Someone will return your call to verify that you have found the treasure. The treasure will be checked daily to ensure that it remains hidden and undisturbed. Upon verification by Captain Bones that the treasure is found, the Santa Rosa County Chamber will post an announcement on it's internet website stating that the Grand Prize is no longer available. The Grand Prize will be awarded at Riverfest on July 4th at the South Pavilion on the Riverwalk in downtown Milton. The winner will not be revealed until the award ceremony at Riverfest. If the treasure has not been found the following day after the announcement of the 7th Clue, a bonus clue leading directly to the treasure will be released.
